keep going, there's more to tell. he got what he needed and then did his own project.
I think it may have had something to do with Ric Osuna being told by George Lutz that Osuna's book (which apparently was written like just a plan) was actually Osuna's finished product. When politely suggested he should take some lessons in writing and then they would reconsider that is when Osuna took offence. I got the impression that Ric Osuna was not big on taking what he deemed to be criticism, when the reality of writing is that it always needs re-working and editing.
When The Night The DeFeo's Died was released a few years later it was not just a retelling (or reimagining) of the murders but more an expose on George Lutz and the allegations of a fraud as far as the haunting was concerned.

The idea for a picture book was around before Ric Osuna was on the scene. I think that maybe Osuna wanted to do more than the picture book project and do an actual written book (mentioned above which got pooh-poohed) whereas George was only interested in a picture book. It was a long time ago that I first heard an interview on Lou Gentile where George and Ric Osuna had an on the air heated discussion where Osuna (I think) mentioned something about not being interested in the picture book.
