i doubt you can get arrested for that. It also sounds like he was polite enough and left when asked. Nothing like back when the original movie came out and "hoards of tourists from all over the globe" caused such a stir... He did buy the damn Amityville house afterall...I wouldnt worry too much about the ocassional tourist, and it sounds like Mr Wilson didnt.
good point...Now I took a second look you are right...betweenthe street and the sidewalk become public domain belonging to the twon of Amityville. You did good Arch!

Hi Victoria Principles, Evanguy2004, thecount, leathermonkey, Rawmeat, Dan the Damned, Littlelukey, Reg Read ! :D

How are you all doing fellas ?

Thank you for your comments !

Well some were cool, some were not that cool.. :?

I was not on the 108 lawn as you saw and I did not stay very long and Brian Wilson did not sound angry but more tired and I know what meant "Move on Swiss guy" (that's why I did the :P smile after I related it on the main topic) and.... (out of breath.. :x ..) I don't think I did something wrong..

I know that a lot of people are paranos in this country but come on.. If the police had came they just would have tell me to leave. You can't arrest someone for taking pictures on the sidewalk for 10 minutes during the day or even having talked to the occupant :?

Anyway.. some sound jealous here..

Who is the next coming to bring us back some hot pix ?

Do you know if Brian is going to keep The House for some more years ? Is it true that he's not the owner but that the City owns The House and that Brian just payed to occupy the place ?

If you know some info, please tell me.

Have all a nice day guys

Since Wilson paid for the house, I do not think that the city pays him to live there. Also the Town of Babylon is so cheap that they would never pay somene to live somwhere. The town would have just torn the place down and made it an empty lot, then sell the lot for someone to build a new house on or even rent it out to boat owners to store boats. I think Amityville just prohibits the owners to turn it into some tourist attraction.

Hello Swiss Guy,

Brian Wilson owns the house. The Village has no reason to own it. Not for what they can get in property taxes on any private lot. We tend not to like government ownership in this country (socialism).

No one here would no how long Wilson would own the house. We don't know him and it is not our business. Based upon the amount of work he did on the house, I'd say that he plans on being there for a while.

If the police had come, they would have told you to leave. You're right. But they also could have taken you in for questioning just to make sure you were a curious seeker and nothing else.

And what do you mean by paranos? Paranoid?

Yeah, just because you were doing nothing wrong and not trespassing doesn't mean the cops couldn't have ruined your day. They could have taken you to the station and wasted your day by questioning you and making you wait around while they checked out your credentials, etc.

They could have hassled you, hoping that you'd react in a bad way so that they could charge you with something.

There's a reason Wilson "sounded tired." He probably deals with this sort of thing all the time, and is sick and tired of it. And that might cause him to move one day.

But in either case, you did nothing wrong.

Hi Dan the Damned !

Doing well ?

Thanks for your comment again.

I don't believe what you said and if it's true then it's worse than I thought in this country.. I have spoken with the Police a lot of time and my attitude toward them always helped and I never had any problems. I'm sure it would have been shorter than what you said because of my attitude and the way I'm show I'm a very honest person. Anyway, I took the day to visit The House and did not plan anything else for that day so..

I was not approaching The House any closer and so I was not a danger to Wilson or his house.. I'm sure that if it was my house I would look at the person (me for that case) and since the guy did not walk on my property, I would not have said a word. What I did is not violating any law or privacy. I agree about privacy but it was not a lack of privacy and he knows that That House has a sad history that made "her" famous. If he can't deal with that, then he should seriously think about moving. Again, if someone trespass the property, that's different. I did not.

Ok I wish you a nice day, see you later

Esp in Suffolk County where the cops think who they are, and feel the need to belittle others to help their own self esteem. Your lucky the popo wasn't around to annoy you, cause around here thats all they do is annoy people instead of helping them.

Yeah Arch, I know you did nothing wrong, but the police are human. Sometimes they act like jerks and bend the law. Sometimes they are the nicest people in the world. It all depends on the cop and the circumstances.

When you consider that this section of Ocean Avenue has had problems with gawkers for the past 30 years, you should know that the cops probably roll their eyes when they get a disturbance call on the radio telling them that people are hanging around, making the owner nervous.

There have been incidents of people tearing off pieces of the house for souvenirs. People have ruined the lawn or just made a nuisance of themselves. And Wilson is probably right when he doesn't want to wait to see what you agenda may be. He doesn't know if your plan is to dig up part of his lawn, or perhaps set the spirits free by setting the house on fire. He really doesn't know, even after a brief polite conversation with you. Just because you are polite to him doesn't mean you could be a dangerous man.

So when the cops are called, they probably go over there with the attitude of "oh damn, not again, I'm so sick of responding to that damn house..." And they most likely don't want to waste a lot of time asking questions. They know the story. They know you're gonna say, "I was just looking at the house," and they know what Weber's complaint will be.

So I'm guessing they might just resolve the situation by bringing you to the station. And here's what I think would happen in the station:

--they'll have you wait around most of the day.

--when you ask what you are waiting for, they'll say "the seargent wants a word with you, but he's busy right now" or "you're waiting to be questioned"

--finally they'll bring you to a room and ask some stupid questions (which they know the answer to already)

--they'll give you a little lecture about it being a private house, and how they get nervous when people congregate and they'll tell you about the incidents they've had in the past

--then they'll let you go, and advise you to stay away from Ocean Avenue

That's just my theory of what they'd do. And really I'm saying if for others, just so they're aware not to go there and give everyone a strong attitude of "go ahead and call the cops - I'm doing nothing wrong."

Again Arch, you did nothing wrong. Don't read too much into this.

Hello all AT members...new member here. Great and informative web site here. :)

I think for the police to initiate any action requires damage or loss caused by the trespasser, or if the property owner warns the trespasser to leave and he doesn't. The civil trespasser might also be questioned and/or apprehended by the authorities if there was a no trespassing sign or a fence existed and the trespasser violates this.

I think Brian should have expected gawkers when he purchased the home and asked the previous owner(s) and police, if possible, how they handled the situation. But then again, I can understand his frustrations regarding this very unusual case.

I personally don't see anything done wrong here by ARch 75, but Brian certainly has a right to question the intent of observers and tell them to move along.

I, like everyone else, loved the pictures! Those are the best shots I've seen yet. Although, I didn't see Brian Wilson in the window . . . . But the pictures were great nonetheless. Had it been me, I probably would've taken off as soon as the car pulled in the driveway. But you got to meet him and he seemed cool about it. :) That's awesome.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Brian : "Ok, move on Swiss guy"

Typical New-Yorker... heh heh.

But in all honesty, you are not breaking the Law by taking 1000 pictures from the street, he, nor the police can tell you to leave. Or should I say "Move on"... heh heh. Well I guess you could be ticketed for "Disturbing the Peace/Public Nuisance" or for "being a Peeping Tom" but that's about it, it would have made a cool souvenir... ;)

Hello BellWitch74 and Dan the Damned !

Doing well men ?

I read all your answer Dan the Damned and I believe that you are absolutely right, thank you.

Thanks too BellWticth74 for your comments about my pix.
I was so happy to finally be over there in Amityville. On the paths of the famous "true" story and above all, going to The House :P

I never meant to catch Brian Wilson on the pix because I could have if I really wanted since he arrived with his car while I was there, but the two pix you can see him are no lies buddy.

Of course you can't see him and recognize him if you have seen him already or say "he has a big nose or a large brow", you just can see his shape, him looking through the window.

So write me a private message and I'll send you them.

Have a nice day guys, take care

I actually hope that I'm wrong - because if I'm right, the police would be abusing their powers.

Hi Dan the Damned!

Doing well man ?

It would not be the first time the police would be abusing their powers. A human stays human..

Anybody else have an unavoidable question or thing to say here ?

Only 3 persons asked me to send them the pix where Brian is looking at me through the windows, come on, they are fun!

Have all a nice day

hey, well i have the pics :D and thank you Architect, they are great and a great addition to my amityville collection. and, yes, i can tell you mr wilson is clearly seen through the windows. even though i wear glasses i am able to see him.

but the funny thing is that i spent almost half an hour trying to see wilson in the window in the picture below...i thought to myself: "hm, strange, how can this be wilson...is there something i don't see...i took the glasses off and still nothing, even worse, everything was blurry, took the glasses back on...still nothing...

at that point i began to think: "oh god, That "Swiss guy" is exaggerating just like many other users on the forum...seeing something when there is nothing...nothing, just a reflection in the window that looks like a human face...no neck, body, arms..."

all that was in my mind untill i read the first post of this tread again...and much to my surprise there was wilson in the window to the right.

I did however request from Arch of Light to send me the pics of Wilson he did not post on these boards and you can clearly see him in the window in those pics he e-mailed me. Arch of Light has opened the invitation to anyone who wants to see Wilson in the window is to e-mail him direct.

I'm not interested. Unless ARC also sends me a picture of him next to his house. That way I would know someone to visit if I'm ever in Switerland.

Hi Arch,

Good to have you back!! We missed your input on the boards!!! I just reviewed your pics again buddy and I got to say you nailed em!!! Probably the best, clearest, brightest pictures that were ever taken of the house! (Anyone disagree? If so I would love to see those pictures too!!) I loved the different angles of the shots!!! The only picture you missed was from the rear of the house shooting over the river! Also I would love if someone would go there at night with night vision or some other special effect for low light pictures and take a bunch of pictures of the house in the dark. That would be totally cool!

Hi Victoria Principles!

You seem to be a fun little fella..

I would not mind a picture of me next to my house but I only have a flat. Live is really expensive here in Geneva..

But I would not mind to send you a picture of me next to my house but it's not useful here..

You can see me on one of the pix with The House and I also have more pix of me at the Blue T Pizza eating but I thought nobody would be interested to see me that close, so I did not post them all. The subject was and is The House, isn't it ?

I don't think you can compare me and my house to Brian and his house.. Anyway..

Write me in private and I'll show you a pic of me really close if it can gives you chills

Have a nice day
