I think it was a deep brown color. There are a couple of color photos and news footage from that era.

Thank you! I couldn't seem to tell what color it was in the news footage even though it was 'color' video. Brown makes sense.

I just noticed in one of the DeFeo crime scene photos that the rear wall (the one facing the water) is white!
