Cromarty photos with skulls

Post by littlemissfitz » Fri Sep 16, 2005 12:11 pm

Hi there
Please can someone tell me where I can see some pictures of the Cromartys (i believe it was an interview in a magazine) where the skulls are present in the fireplace & Mr Cromarty's arm is semi transparent?

I'd love to see them but search engines on the web are drawing a blank

Thanks in advance

LMF

These pictures were meant to be shown in the the histories mysteries documentaries on Amityville, but thanks to a person called Ric Osuna (who phoned the right holders and declared it all a hoax), they were not...

I guess the only way to see them now, is to get hold of a copy of the magazine...

I have seen the photo's that your asking about... and I believe that they have been published in a magazine article. The photo I saw of the Cromarty's was taken inside the house near a window, I believe it is in black and white. Another unusual feature of this particular photo is that Mr. Cromarty's arm is transparent...

The other photograph is a color photograph... a close up picture of the fireplace. What appears to be a transparent image of a hooded face can be seen looking out from the fireplace.

I'm almost positive that the images were published somewhere in a magazine article... keep looking : )

I don't believe that the close up of the fireplace was ever in a magazine. I do have the original photograph along with several other photographs taken during the Cromarty's time of residence. (Or shortly thereafter. Not sure, as the photographs were taken by someone else when I was a child. I acquired them in 1998.)

Hi, BLDNFYR, welcome to the board!

Were you the person dealing with Ric Osuna when he wanted to use them on The History Channel?

a solid object showing up as transparent in a photograph (the "old fashioned" film photographs) was evidence that the photo had been double exposed.

I did a film class project once where I shot about 2 minutes of motion picture footage using 16 mm film...it was a guy sitting at a card table playing cards, I rewound the film and kept shooting the same scene making sure that the table, chairs and background didn't move or change at all - but I would add people into the empty chairs...the end result is 4 people in various stages of transparency, sitting around the table playing cards...it looked pretty cool, but it's one of the easiest "special effects" that a photographer can achieve.

I wonder if I still have that thing? Well, it doesn't really matter because film students have been making their own versions of that same footage for generations.

I read the one you sent yesterday!

I haven't responded yet because I've been kind of busy - I CLOSE ON THE HAUNTED FARM THIS AFTERNOON!!!

So I really should get busy and get all of the paperwork together instead of sitting here posting on the Amityville board...I even took the day off of work so I could get everything ready...

I'm an idiot, aren't I?

That's right, Dry - you're into the real estate game, aren't you?

I'll pm you a link to the listing for it - but the basic details are that the place is almost 150 years old, it was a tobacco farm many, many years ago...most of the fields were sold off and there is like a new "upscale subdivision" going in out there, but the "farm" itself still included 4 acres of land...really cool land, with woods and a creek.

But it is supposed to be haunted and - oddly enough - the real estate agent actually told us that the first time we looked at it.

I just got home a little while ago...I mean, back to my current home.

I really have to agree with something you said in the pm, Dry - if there is something there, it certainly isn't anything "malevolent" or "evil" or even frightening in any way. I just get such a peaceful feeling in that place.

AND I HAVE TO TELL YOU ABOUT THIS ROOM IN THE BASEMENT!!! One section of the basemant is in really bad shape - it's just a stone and morter foundation in that part and it's really crumbling...I was out there patching and cementing most of the night...anyway, there's that part that's old and crumbling, there's also a part of the basement that's used for the laundry room and it's in much better shape...I wouldn't call it a "finished basement" but it's sort of been finished off - but then, off of the laundry room there is this other room that must have been absolutely beautiful when the place was built! It's got two solid walls of HAND CARVED bookshelves - the room is paneled - there's this gorgeous old chandelier and this room has it's own door to the outside (which wasn't common to have a "walkout basement" back when this place was built)

This room must have been some sort of office, because it must have been the best room in the house - and you were able to enter the office without going through the "living space" upstairs at all...I picture the original owner to have been a doctor or lawyer or something in addition to running a farm - and that was probably where he would see clients or patients.

It seems like previous owners have only used that room for storage or a workshop or something - but when I'm in that room...well, that's where I think there might actually be "something" (keep in mind that I usually don't go in for a lot of supernatural rhetoric) - it's just a feeling you get when you're in that room. A few other people that I've had out there have mentioned it, too. But it feels like I'm just supposed to restore that room to it's "former grandeur" if that makes any sense at all.

and I promise I'll take some pictures!

Thanks for the welcome Sherbet...Yes, I did deal with Ric at one time. I made a decision to remove the photos and all other "evidence," from the History Channel project because I felt that it may not have been the best forum in which to present them. When I acquired these items, it was with the intent to present them in a completely objective format ,which would allow others to decide their validity or irrelevance. So, that is why I have not posted them, nor do I intend to post them any time soon. The remake of the movie seems to have produced many more enthusiasts to the topic. It's difficult enough to refute the often ridiculous skepticism/enthusiasm of long time researchers! I'm not up to sparring with any newbies! I fully intend to present these things at some point, but life is too hectic right now! I do enjoy seeing all of the viewpoints on the board. Let's keep it up!

From what I understand Ric - who volentary left the History Channel project - misrepresented to you what that show was going to be... I know they wanted to use a portion of your Cromarty press conference audio, and its deletion caused some last minute editing headaches. Not your fault of course... but what did you think about those History Channel shows?

So I wish you the best in getting the material out there, because it sounds a fascinating untold story!
