I have just finished ready High Hopes for the fourth time now. The more I think about it I am not 100% certain everything was revealed about the murders. By his own admission in the book Gerard Sullivan noted they did not know everything about what happened that night. Being a trial they could only go off evidence alone and convince a jury Butch DeFeo was guilty.
Just to clarify I still think Ronald DeFeo Jr did the murders. That much is obvious. But there is more to it than meets the eye.

I just read a poorly written book about Amityville on Amazon! I read every book on the subject. I’m not giving the author any publicity, but they imply that it is well known that Dawn participated in the murder. The writing is terrible and not easy to understand how we should know this. If anyone is really interested in learning about the Amityville case, find ‘Mentally Ill in Amityville.’ You will learn something about the house you’ve never learned before!

I very doubt it; that entire "book" is nonsense, imo.

You are saying ‘Mentally Ill in Amityville’ is bad, or the book that I didn’t give the title to?

Might I recommend reading this thread, here, authored by Will Savive, himself.

The initial version had errors, but thanks to the people on this forum, Will made some corrections.

Amityville Revisited is the book I just read that was terrible! The one I am halfway through is Pure Observation: A fairer View Of The Amityville Legend. It’s by Paul Garratt-Proctor. So far, so good.

It depends on a number of factors whether it is a good book. The author's research and knowledge of the subject helps a lot. Their ability to write and abstain from grammatical and spelling errors also helps.

Impartiality also helps.
