If you intend on reading it, which of course is entirely your choice, can I suggest you first read (if you have not already) the book High Hopes by Gerard Sullivan and Harvey Aronson?

As the book is still in print, you'd have to buy it!

I doubt they ever offered a PDF version, or any type of e-book version for that matter. It was published by Ryan Katzenblech, so just a step up from being self-published. This was published over a decade ago, and I don't think e-books were as popular as they are now.

If it was a normal publisher, then they'd probably offer it as an ebook.

In either case, you'll get way more info about the murders (and the haunting) by browsing this forum than by reading that book...

I would like a book about the De feo family, not the Lutz family
What book do you recommend?

High hopes is a good book? What is it about?

Gerard Sullivan was the prosecuting attorney at the 1975 DeFeo murder trial. High Hopes is his account of the whole case from the murders, arrest, pre-trial, trial and verdict. It is the most reliable and accurate accounting published on the DeFeo case to date. I recommend you read this before taking on Ric Osuna's book.

Totally agree. I think the majority of us on the board will agree. High Hopes is the best book about the DeFeo family murders.

The Night the DeFeos Died is almost like a horrible fan fiction book, though it claims to be factual.

I'm gonna move this thread to the DeFeo section (the Amityville Discussion section is more for talk about the haunting claims)...

Yes I agree. This book should be read first.
