Marc and John were "probably awake"?

Post by indigo_turquoise » Fri Jan 25, 2019 3:58 pm

Hello,
I just have a question regarding this FAQ: https://www.amityvillefaq.com/defeo.html#awake

What physical evidence indicated Marc and John were "probably" awake? Any further info on that claim that one of them was clutching his bed sheets?

I think the two brothers being murdered supposedly without one being awakened by the first gunshot in the same room as him is the most puzzling aspect of the murder.

Hello, Indigo. I remember one time someone told me that Ronnie might've accidentally admitted that John woke up and ran after him somewhere, but was asked to return to bed and lay faced down. Hopefully this helps. Still doesn't answer how he acted alone.

You can see on the crime scene photos that Marc's left hand is under the pillow and it looks like he is grabbing the top of the sheet.

I think maybe if they were awake, they could have pretended to be asleep. We don't know how it was, but it would make sense that if they heard gunshots and if Ronnie might have been shouting, they wouldn't have necessarily thought to hide.

Fear can paralyze. I would like to think they were asleep so they would not have been terrified at their last moment of life.

I wrote the entries for the FAQ. The entry you're speaking of states:
The next two killed were Ronnie's kid brothers, Marc and John. They shared a room next to Allison. It is likely they were awake, as Marc had an injured hip which made it difficult to move around in bed. This is said to have caused Marc to sleep on his back, but when found by police, both he and his brother (like the rest) were found laying on their stomachs.

It seems possible that Ronnie may have ordered the boys to turn over in bed to avoid looking at their faces when shooting them. I seem to remember hearing one or both of the boys were found clutching their bedsheets, but I can't remember the source.
Not sure what else I can tell you other than what's in the entry there. The entry contains the answer to your question.

I can't remember where I heard that, and I made a point to write as much in the entry.
