DeFeo Piano

Post by AlwaysBarefoot » Wed Jul 14, 2021 10:30 am

Such a fascinating forum! About twice a year curiosity about the whole Amityville saga is awaked in me and I love reading these posts. Just decided to join.

My first topic for discussion is the piano. As one poster indicated, it was probably very old but as we see also very elaborate. What became of the family's belongings was always intriguing to me as I know Lutz purchased some and other items were removed. I have to imagine that piano exists somewhere, possibly with someone who may not be aware of its prior Ocean Avenue home.

The piano was purchased for $500 in May 1975 by Richard Wyssling who is/was married into the family (Brigante side).

That's interesting. Wyssling, a lawyer, appears to have died in '15 but his wife and children survive him. I wonder if the piano remains with them...

I am wondering how many happy tunes the DeFeo family stood around and sang while someone belted out those ivories ... ?

Do we know if some of the children played piano?
I guess it was Louise who sometimes played the piano, right?
I guess I heard it somewhere years ago. But I'm not 100% sure.
